All the Review Notes are up!

I’ll be finishing up the Flashcards next - ERA chapter 2 is pending.

I discovered that the solutions to the exercises in Shapland were not updated to reflect some of the new notation this year.  Also, three questions needed better answers.

The Shapland manual is updated, you can also find just the solutions pages in the errata.

In addition to my travel March 1 -4; I will also be away on March 22-24.   I don’t expect to be able to answer questions during these trips.

In Shapland 4.6, the third heteroskedastic method (pg 29 of the manual).

A correction was made, and the section was expanded to increase clarity.

The lesson (Lesson 5, starting at 10:06) was re-recorded to reflect these updates.

If you’ve already seen this lesson, I recommend watching it again.

You can download the new page in the errata.

Book 4 was published today - the individual pieces were available last week, but it’s now in one pdf.

We also published “Review Notes” for all the papers (Shapland and Verrall are pending, and will be available soon).

The Review Notes are summaries of each paper, typically about 4 pages long.  The whole syllabus is summarized in about 100 pages.

The purpose is to allow you to quickly review each paper as you are doing your review.

I’ll be in New York on March 1 - 4, and will likely not be able to answer many questions while I am away.

About half of the Lessons for ERA 5.4 were redone from last year.  It’s the second half of Lesson 1, and all of Lesson 2.  Lesson 3 is unchanged.  These were posted today.

The errata is updated.

The errata now includes the pages that were changed in each document, so you can just print the errata, as opposed to looking for the affected pages in the orginal document.

The manual for ERA Chapters 4 & 5 was posted today, along with new exercises.

All the manuals are up now.

It’s early to have gotten to section C - the ERA text yet, but I wanted to point out two things:

Recall it’s only 20% of the weight of the syllabus.  Prior to the 2016 sitting it was 40% for 2 years, and 50% prior to that.  Much of the material was changed in 2015 and 2016.

In the 2016 exam, section C was worth 23% of the points.

There wasn’t a single calculation from section C.  You did have to interpret a graph, but everything was word answers.

The 2015 exam, section C starts with question 19.  75% of the points were words; only 25% was calculations or graphs.

The point I want to make is that in your studying of section C, it is very important to be able to explain what is going on.
