An update and a correction to CAS exam error

May 31st, 2013 Comments off

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Just a quick update since my last post: You may have noticed that I’ve posted new files that combine the study manuals and problem sets into a single file.  There is no new information in these files compared to the separate files, rather, they are there to save you time if you wish to print out the material.

I’ve also re-posted the problem set for the Bailey & Simon paper with a correction.  It appears that the 2008 CAS exam 9 question 5 part b has incorrect model solutions on the CAS website.  I’ve revised the solution in the TIA problem set, and I’ve notified the CAS of the issue.

Otherwise, I’m currently putting together a way to better explain the section B syllabus material, and I’ll have some new material posted next week.

Thanks,

Josh

Welcome to TIA’s Exam 8 Online Seminar!

May 18th, 2013 Comments off

Hello everyone,

My name is Josh, and I’ll be your instructor for this seminar.  If you haven’t already done so, I’d encourage you to watch the introductory video for the course, which contains information about me, about the structure of the course, and a timeline for materials to be posted.

At this time, all of the 2013 material for section A of the syllabus for the exam is now posted.  I’ll continue to post new material about every 2 weeks until the end of August.

As you go through this course, I’d encourage you to ask any questions you have through the forums.  In addition, any feedback you can provide me will help me better prepare you for the exam, so I welcome your feedback.

Together, we will have you prepared to pass CAS Exam 8 for this sitting.  This will require effort on my part to give you resources to understand and memorize the material, and effort on your part to go through the material, commit to learning it and memorizing it, and working through plenty of practice problems so the exam itself just seems like more of the same problems for which you’re already prepared.

Here we go!

Josh
