Updates

July 20th, 2017 Comments off

Hi everyone,

The section B TIA material is now completely updated for the 2017 syllabus changes.  This also means the complete manual and notecards are now final (aside from future errata), so they can be printed if desired.  A couple of other updates:

  • I recently added a spreadsheet to the B.6 section that includes my commentary on the Fisher case study spreadsheet.
  • I updated the study schedule PDF slightly, but better yet, I added a new study schedule feature to the online seminar.  For those not familiar with this feature, I uploaded a video in the Introduction section of the course explaining how it works.

At this point, I still need to update the 4 original TIA practice exams for the syllabus changes and make some minor errata type clarifications in the material, though that will be complete soon as well.  The next big announcement will likely involve the new TIA notecards app, which is coming soon.

Thanks,

Josh

New section posted

July 17th, 2017 Comments off

Hi everyone,

I just posted the section on Aggregate Excess Loss Cost Estimation, covering the remainder of the Fisher paper (chapters 3 and 4).  I also took down all the old material from the prior syllabus since this new material is now up.  At this point, there are only 2 sections left to post: the NCCI retrospective rating manual, and a review of the Fisher case study spreadsheet.  Both of those sections are much smaller, so I expect them to be posted in just a few more days.

Thanks,

Josh

Correction to Exp Rating problem

July 11th, 2017 Comments off

Hi everyone,

I just posted a correction to the solution for 2003 Q26 in the Experience Rating problem set.  Previously the proposed plan quintile data and the resulting solutions were calculated incorrectly.  Please make sure to grab an updated copy of that page.

Thanks,

Josh

Bahnemann minor correction and new section

July 7th, 2017 Comments off

Hi everyone,

I just posted a correction to the solution of practice problem 16c in the Bahnemann section.  The answer was correct, but two of the formulas showed incorrect values (that weren’t used).  Please make sure to grab the latest version to avoid any confusion.

Also, I’ll be posting the new section on Loss-sensitive rating plans shortly, which covers chapter 2 of the new Fisher paper.

Thanks,

Josh
