B.4 Update

I’ve completed the lessons for the B.4 update, and they are posted as of today.  As I expected, the new number of lessons is 7, and there are more problems and examples among those.

I’ve still got the last few exercises for B.4.7 to load into the problems system, which I hope to do soon.  The pdf files for the problems are already complete and in the lesson handouts zip folders.

The Summary sheet for B.4 update is also complete and posted

After that, I’ve got the flashcards to update for B.4, and it will be time to move on to D.1.

I plan to update the B.4 review lesson in March.

Goals for Spring 2020 Lesson Updates

I’ve decided to update several sections of the MAS-I lessons as we move through toward the Spring 2020 sitting.

The 2020 CAS syllabus has not been released, so the changes I’m planning are not a result of syllabus changes, they are entirely intended to improve the lessons.

First, the B.4 lessons.  These lessons are currently too detailed, involving more notation than is necessary for the limited range of questions that the CAS has been asking based on the life contingencies study note.  The new lessons will decrease the need for additional notation details and will remove a few topics into which the existing lessons go into more detail than the study note, but the topics have not been examined.  I expect there to be 7 new lessons, and my goal is to finish them during the month of November.

Next up will be the D.1-D.3 lessons, which I hope to complete, respectively, in December, January, and February.

This is a pretty large project, so I can’t guarantee that I will be able to meet all of the goal deadlines listed here and in the lessons menu titles, but this is what I am going to try to do.   If you get to a section before I finish the updates, feel free to use the existing lessons.
