Changes to FCIA requirements

As you may be aware, as of 2018, if you are a Canadian actuary wishing to obtain the FCIA, there will be no more examinations for the PEC. Instead, the CIA has updated their exam requirements to obtain the FCIA designation.

PEC 2018 requirements

Key upshot: If you are a rising FCIA, you will be required to take the Canadian version of any exams on your track in order to obtain the FCIA. This will impact the ILA, RET and GH tracks (see pink highlighted squares in image above). For more information on this, please visit the CIA’s site.

This does not affect US actuaries or anyone planning to become an FSA member of the SOA. It only impacts rising FCIAs. However, if you plan to get your FCIA and need to switch from the US version of the LFV online seminar to the Canadian version of the LFV online seminar, we would be happy to do that. Just let us know.
