New readings added to Section A

Section A is now complete for the detailed study manual and online seminar video lessons. Three new readings were added:

  1. Term Conversions – A Reinsurer’s Perspective
  2. Life Insurance Acceleration Riders
  3. The Interstate Compact

If you had already downloaded the preliminary Section A detailed study manual, please look at the notes in the revision history file for the detailed study manual. The Section A video lesson PDF handout file was also updated.

LP Lesson Handouts Updated

All PDF lesson handouts (with and without instructor notes) have been refreshed in the online seminar to be consistent with the recent layout changes. We’ve also added a table of contents within each lesson handout PDF with the same outline number as found in the online seminar.

This makes for easier navigation in your PDF viewer of choice. I’m going to be posting a short video soon explaining how best to use these handouts with the online seminar.

LP Online Seminar – Fall 2014

We’ve finished reorganizing the online seminar for fall 2014. If you were registered for the spring 2014 sitting, you will want to re-download the study schedule and detailed study manual, as these have been updated to reflect the new lesson layout.

The new lesson layout incorporates the readings that were added to the fall 2014 syllabus, and we also regrouped some of the pre-existing readings in a way that we feel will be more intuitive during your preparation for the exam.

I also highly recommend watching the video that accompanies the study schedule spreadsheet in the Introduction section of the online seminar. In that video, I talk about how to use the study schedule and give other time management tips.

Currently, we have placeholders in place for the new readings. Updating the detailed study manual and video new lessons for these new readings is a high priority, and we expect that work to be complete in early June.

ILA Life Pricing – Fall 2014

It seems like only last week we were still in the spring 2014 sitting of LP. Oh wait, we were! But that’s now history, and we’re looking ahead to fall 2014! You can download the fall 2014 syllabus and get more details about the exam on the SOA’s ILA-LP page.

We are already hard at work updating the online seminar to reflect the syllabus changes outlined below. You can expect some rearranging to occur in the next few days. Once the dust settles, I will post an updated course layout and study schedule for fall 2014.

I’ve also posted key dates for fall 2014 updates in the “course status” flyer in the Introduction section of the online seminar. Stay tuned for future updates on this blog.
