Enhancements to Tiller Ch. 4 and 5 reinsurance lessons in Section D

Today we posted some major enhancements to our lessons covering the Tiller Ch. 4 and 5 reinsurance material. The previous handwritten-style examples are now gone and have been replaced with updated Excel-based examples. The new illustrative examples are similar in format to the previous examples and cover all the same methods. However, providing the examples in an Excel format should add a lot more value by letting you inspect each and every formula. The Excel files are also designed to allow you to change key inputs and observe how those changes impact the financial statements.

We also made various tweaks to the numbers and inputs in the examples, especially in the Ch. 4 examples, to make common points of confusion much clearer. In the new videos, I’ve also tried to address FAQs and specific items that we’ve seen cause confusion in the past.

Even if you have already gone through the reinsurance material and feel good about it, I think there’s value in re-watching these lessons and using the new Excel-based examples. Please see the lessons for instructions and additional information.
