Course Updates Coming

The SOA has finally released the sample problems for LTAM.  Ken and I have been in a holding pattern waiting for these problems.  We didn’t want to release any new material without first seeing what kind of problems the SOA expects you to be able to answer on the new material.

Here are the changes you can expect for the seminar going forward:

A. SOA sample problems
– the MC problems will be added into the problem system and lesson PDFs
– problems have been updated from ILT to the Standard Ultimate Life Table, but we will not make those changes initially as the method of solving the problem is the same
– the WA problems will be added to the course
– again some of these problems have been updated from ILT to SULT, but we will keep them as ILT until we have time to make those changes

B. 3 new mortality improvement lessons
– these lessons will go into section A7. Miscellaneous Topics
– they will be available by July 27th

C. Section J lessons
– they will be available by August 17th

D. New sample exams
– the first sample exam will be available by Sept 14th

E. Old MLC lesson replaced
– currently, only sections A and B have been re-recorded from MLC
– section C has been recorded but not edited
– I decided to hold off re-recording any further lessons in case the SOA threw a big curveball with the SOA sample problems
– it looks like they have not made any significant changes, thus the old MLC lessons are perfectly fine to prepare for the exam
– I will eventually replace these old lessons but the new material and sample exams will take priority
– as I re-record these lessons if anything significant changes in a lesson I will let you know about the changes

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  Study hard!
