I’ve updated the typed solutions for B.1. It now contains typed solutions to ALL 171 problems. My goal is to created typed solutions to all the problem sets.

What next?

I hope the exam (3L or MLC) went well. I’d appreciate any feedback you can give me to help improve the seminar. You can either post that in the comments here or send me an email.

I hope you take some time off from studying to let your brain rest. I always took about 2 months off between exams. I found this time off allowed me to really focus when I started up studying again.

If you passed, then I hope you will consider a TIA seminar for your next exam. If that is 3F/MFE, then I’m excited to tell you that we have a new instructor Mike Yates. Mike is a long time friend and I know he will make an excellent instructor for 3F/MFE. If you next is exam 4/C, then I know you love Dave Revelle. He is our instructor for 1/P and 4/C. Dave always receives great reviews from his students.

If you didn’t pass, then remember that you get one extension for free. You can find more information here.

I’d like to ask one favor of you. I’m trying to spread the word about The Infinite Actuary and our seminars. We are still a relatively new company (started in Spring 2007) and many students haven’t heard of us. So please tell your friends and co-workers about us. If you are a poster on the AO, then please share your comments (good or bad) about our seminars. For example, here is a thread about which product you used to prepare. As of now there are no comments about the TIA seminar.

Thanks and best of luck on your future exams.

Good Luck Tomorrow!

November 2nd, 2009

I always like to rest the day before the exam. I might flip through the summary sheets a couple of times, but nothing more. I definitely recommend going to bed early. It is likely to take you longer than usual to go to sleep so it helps to get into bed 30 minutes to an hour early. IMO, the worst thing you can do is stay up all night studying. You will likely be tired so the studying won’t be too effective and it could cause you to be tired on exam day too.

On exam day there will be a handful of people with their notes cramming right before the exam. I always thought this was silly. If you don’t know it by the morning of the exam, then you are not going to know it. Plus there is always a chance that you will confuse yourself of something that you do know. I strongly recommend against cramming the morning of the exam.

During the exam try to relax and stay positive. If you have studied hard enough, then it is very likely that you know how to work enough problems to pass. The key is finding those problems you know how to work and getting them right.
