MLC Spring 2016

April 25th, 2016

Two things:

1. You can find the first two pages of the MLC Spring 2016 at the link below. I highly recommend you read these two pages before exam day.

https://www.soa.org/Files/Edu/2016/edu-2016-04-exam-mlc-cover.pdf

2. On the SOA’s MLC update page they have posted the following:

“Replacement Page for Spring 2016 MLC Exam – Please be aware that candidates sitting for the Spring 2016 MLC examination will be given a replacement page for their exam booklet from their exam supervisor/proctor. If a replacement page is not provided, please request one from your proctor.”

Re-watch J15

April 25th, 2016

One section was added to the MLC syllabus this Spring – “Funding the Benefits of a Pension Plan”. This section is covered in lesson J15. I recommend that you re-watch this lesson this week. I would not be surprised if a big written answer question showed up on this section.

J.1.5 updated

April 7th, 2016

Just a quick note, in case you’ve already seen J.1.5 previously. We added about a minute or so to mention that the shortcut that is included for computing the normal contribution in example 10.10 is ONLY good in that format for final year plans. If you have to use a final average salary, you also have to adjust that shortcut. That’s now explained in the lesson, at around the 20 minute mark.

Sample Exams (and a correction)

April 6th, 2016

The actual MLC exam is less than a month away. Time to start thinking about practice exams! Check out the Sample Exam tab and watch the “Sample Exam Strategy Spring 2016″ lesson under the section titled “*** START HERE ***”.

By the way, in case you got an earlier start on the sample exams, we issued an update for sample exam 3 today. There was an error in the last WA problem, relating to how the three-year average salary was to be computed in the current unit method. That’s been corrected now both in the pdf files and in the video solution.
