Fall 2019 Solutions

I’ve added typed solutions for the Fall 2019 sitting of the exam. If you want to appeal anything, the appeal deadline is Nov. 11. I’ve added notes in some of the problems about what I think they may or may not do with an appeal, but just because I don’t think an appeal will succeed doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.

The questions I found most problematic are #38, where statement I should be about splits rather than trees to be true (I could see them going either way on this one, or maybe accepting 2 answers), #35, where the given information is contradictory but I still think there is a best answer, and #34, which I think should be thrown out but they may stick with C.

If you have any questions about these or others, posting on the discussion forum is easier for me to respond to than blog responses (which tend to hit spam filters). If you want help with an appeal, let me know.

  1. Hello, please in the solutions, similar to what was done to the MAS-I TIA material, can you label the problems that are either type I, II or III? Also, can you indicate the part of the MAS-II lesson content the problems are from please (you did this for a few of the problems).?

    1. That’s a good suggestion, I’ll work on that. I’m also going to reorganize the exam solutions a bit, and add a video about guessing strategy after I work out some math.
