Every actuary is a bit different. Personally, I work with a lot of data. I prep it to help me make decisions.  It is all about statistics. What does the past inform you about the future?  Can you make a mathematical model that takes in data and spits out what you think may happen in the future?  What variables are important?  How can things change?  As you can probably tell, we have technical skills that work with numbers. We have software that can help make our lives easier to do calculations. Finally, we communicate our results to other people to help make decisions. I hope this gives you a better picture of what we do.
